What we collect, and why.

Who we are
Scalapod is made by Centaur Creations, Pune, India. We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@scalapod.com.
The beta signup form
When you fill in the form at scalapod.com/beta we receive what you typed:
- Your name (optional) and your email address.
- Which phone you use, and for Android testers the Google account you use on the Play Store. Google needs that address to add you to the closed test.
- Your answers about your experience level, what you do, whether you can test for two weeks, and the optional free-text question.
- Where you came from (for example "x" or "linkedin" from the link you clicked), so we know which post worked.
- Your consent to be emailed about the beta.
The form is processed by Formspree, Inc. (United States), which forwards each submission to our inbox and stores a copy on our behalf. Formspree's own policy is at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
We use this data only to run the beta: sending you the invite, following up on your feedback, and (if you agreed) telling you when the app launches. We delete beta signups within 30 days after the beta ends, unless you asked to hear about updates, in which case we keep your email until you unsubscribe. We never sell this data and never share it beyond Formspree and Google Play.
This website
scalapod.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare keeps short-lived server logs (including your IP address) to keep the site up and to block abuse.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, no local storage and no fingerprinting, and it cannot tell one visitor from another.
Your light or dark theme choice is stored in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
The app
Scalapod works without an account. Your progress, XP, streaks, settings and a cached copy of the lessons are stored on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
If you create an account, we store your email address, your display name, and your learning progress (lessons completed, XP, streaks, bookmarks) so they follow you to a new phone. Accounts and this data are hosted on Appwrite Cloud in its Singapore region. The app also opens a short anonymous session to download lesson content; it holds no personal data.
The app uses three Google Firebase services: Analytics (which screens and lessons are used, with no names attached), Crashlytics (crash reports with the device model and operating system version) and Remote Config (switches that let us change settings without an update). You can read Google's policy at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
We do not sell your data. If the app ever shows ads, this policy will say so first.
Your choices
- Ask us to delete your beta signup, your account, or both: email hello@scalapod.com and we do it within 30 days.
- Unsubscribe from beta emails with the link in any email, or by replying.
- Delete all local app data by uninstalling the app.
Children
Scalapod is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we will delete the record.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect, we also say so in the beta email.
